FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Analyst to work for our global Systems Integrator client. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in one of the various office locations in the UK including Leeds, Manchester, London, Telford and Worthing. 

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong knowledge of a wide range of tools and techniques and deploying them in complex and ambiguous contexts, across the project lifecycle, to join our dynamic teams delivering solutions for a large end customer. Working closely with Senior Project/Programme Delivery Leadership and other Subject Matter Experts, you will be highly proficient working with traditional or iterative delivery methods, build strong stakeholder/customer relationships and help drive quality standards/outputs across one or multiple Programme Delivery areas. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to/lead specific initiatives within significant programmes of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusted relationships and provide consultancy to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring a shared understanding of business needs, priorities, and objectives.
  • Lead and govern the business analysis practice by defining standards, frameworks, and best practice approaches, with accountability for the quality of analysis delivered.
  • Provide leadership within the BA community, contributing to its capability, reputation, and continuous improvement both internally and across the wider profession.
  • Manage and develop BA capability by identifying skills gaps, embedding improvements, and aligning analysts to demand based on capability, development needs, and opportunities.
  • Line manage, coach, mentor, and task manage business analysts, supporting professional growth and high quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with other practice leads (e.g. Engineering, Test) to define, implement, and operate effective approaches to change delivery.
  • Apply a broad range of business analysis techniques to create and assure a high quality, holistic evidence base that enables informed stakeholder decision making.
  • Ensure open, consistent communication with stakeholders throughout delivery, supporting the definition and implementation of coherent, appropriate business solutions.

  • Extensive experience applying a broad range of business analysis techniques to resolve complex business problems and clarify requirements across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience engaging with senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic projects or programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management, consultancy, and relationship‑building skills, with confident and effective communication.
  • Line management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing analysts.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and the impact of commercial constraints on decision‑making
Preferred:
  • Experience leading or contributing to a Business Analysis Community of Practice and building professional capability.
  • Active contribution to the wider business analysis profession outside of immediate role responsibilities.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and memberships, such as IIBA CBAP, BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis (or equivalent), and/or membership of IIBA UK or BCS.
